What Is Our Ingredient "GWO Soap" (Greenerways Organic Soap)?

GWO Soap is an emulsifier created by us in response to the typical emulsifiers we saw in other products that were harsh on the skin.

We needed an emulsifier for our product because oil and water do not mix together naturally. You will notice this happens with oil and vinegar salad dressing. Once you start shaking, the oils start to separate immediately from the water. To avoid that with our products, we needed something to bond them together.

What is an Emulsifier Exactly?

Whole New Mom answers this question beautifully. "An emulsifier consists of a hydrophilic (water-loving) head and a hydrophobic (water-hating /oil-loving) tail. The hydrophilic head has an electric charge that will dissolve in water but not oil, whereas the hydrophobic end has a long carbon tail that dissolves in oil but not in water. When you add essential oils to the emulsifier, the emulsifier's hydrophilic head moves towards the water-based portion of the blend and the hydrophilic tail moves towards the oil-based portion.  The emulsifier positions itself between the oil and the water and by reducing the surface tension, stabilizing the emulsion." Neat, right?
